  • Eleven men and eleven women of post-retirement age (mean=72 yrs) participated in a nine-session class related to issues of death and dying. Nine men and nine women (mean=74 yrs) constituted the control group. Both groups were pre-tested with the Templer Death Anxiety Scale and the Lester Attitude Toward Death Scale and post-tested with the Templer Death Anxiety Scale and the Collett-Lester Fear of Death Scale. The null-hypothesis was confirmed: the educational module was not statistically significant in altering death and dying fear/anxiety in the treatment group. However, an evaluation instrument indicated cognitive significance for the treatment participants.
