Abstract
  • This project was designed to assist the congregation in examining their attitudes toward divorced persons and possibly altering their attitudes in light of any new understanding. The vehicles employed to accomplish this task were a sermon series and an eight-week small group study. The working hypothesis was that a more informed congregation should result in an attitude of greater acceptance of divorced persons in the congregation and in leadership roles. The implementation of the project produced statistical data supporting the positive effectiveness of the project. Every variable tested revealed that change had occurred between the time of the pretest and the time of the posttest, with most of this change being in the direction of greater acceptance of divorced persons.
