Abstract
  • This project is an outgrowth of the desire to improve the care for teachers in the local congregation. Such care helps teachers grow and develop their teaching potential. Chapter one underpins the respected place of teachers both historically and theologically. Chapters two - five identify supporting, recruiting, training and supervising as areas for demonstrating teacher care. Chapter two advocates supporting teachers through communication, education, recognition, resources and sabbaticals. Chapter three describes how care is demonstrated to teachers in the way they are recruited. Chapter four discusses several types of training for teachers and also sets forth six questions that should guide training. Chapter five encourages supervision as a means of helping teachers to deliberately reflect upon their teaching.
