- Abstract
- Recognizing a great gap between needs for leadership development and availability of training opportunities specific to small churches, the author designed and implemented a district-wide Leadership School for Smaller Churches. The LSSC offered modules, targeting particular leadership needs in one district. Using two approaches, development oa ministry tool and case study, she explored ecclesiology of small churches and tailored learning/training events to some realities of the small church: primacy of relationships, simpler organizational structure, and lay-oriented power. The study raises questions regarding needs for diverse models and best practices for effectively developing lay and clergy leaders for smaller churches.
