Abstract
  • The frequency of visits may not be as important as understanding the needs of aged shut-ins during visits. Intentional visitation ministries to aged shut-ins focus on the emotional and spiritual needs related to their well-being. A ten-week training program and visitation assignments help equip persons with knowledge, attitudes, and skills related to the priestly function of ministry with the aged and dying. A training group and control (non-training) group visited two groups of aged shut-ins. Surveys and focused interviews evaluated the effect of the training program. Evaluation of the two visitor groups showed significant differences and supported the thesis.
