- The objective of this project is to help African American women who are new in ministry recover from gender-based rejections that they face. The researcher hypothesized that women in group therapy will heal more rapidly than those in individual counseling. The results from therapy sessions held over a period of six months supported the researcher's hypothesis. The researcher concluded that pastoral counseling with a focus on reframing techniques is more successful in group therapy. Group participants were able to return to their ministries with a greater sense of self-value and worth.
