Abstract
  • The author, based on Thomas Kuhn's theory of revolutionary paradigm change, describes historically representative articulations of how a person may describe his/her spiritual journey. He then presents an original, five stage spiritual journey paradigm that is phenomenological and goal-oriented. This paradigm relates to both an individual's spiritual journey and a congregation's corporate experience. The second section employs case studies to demonstrate how the goal-oriented paradigm may be employed as an effective pastoral and spiritual direction tool in guiding individuals and churches into ministry.
