Abstract
  • The Single Adult Ministry (SAM) at Faith Baptist Church (FBC) was created primarily to address the spiritual, social and personal development needs of an increasing number of individuals living single. This project afforded me a unique opportunity to examine FBC/SAM's process of getting things done, its context, ecology, theology, culture, resources, authority, and history, all of which forms the fabric for studying congregations. The development of five core programs (Bible study, workshops, social/recreational, retreats, and acts of love ministry) met many of the needs articulated in a survey completed by single adults; eliminated irregular activities caused by the lack of program planning and provided a manageable calendar of events, which participants considered an enormous accomplishment.
