Abstract
  • Engaging the community faithfully gives a new social imaginary of mutual conversion and genuine friendship in the church as well as with those in the community. This engagement can bring genuine transformation to the church and the community. Faithful community engagement requires the theological framework of a transformational imagination, rather than a transactional imagination, and a practice that will move a church toward being truly community engaged. Transformational imagination is when people come to a place of being able to think and see their world and the world around them in new ways that leads to long term change and growth, both personally and collectively.
