Abstract
  • In a rural community meeting the needs of the poor is problematic. A ministry addressing alternatives resulting in change for the poor from dependence to self-sufficiency presents its own problems. This thesis is about the establishment of such a ministry named the Mustard Seed. Research included looking at an existing ministry model followed by interviews, statistics, and a review of the welfare system. The change process incorporated can be best articulated by James Brina Quinn's 'Logic Incrementalism.' Theological study evolved into 'what do you do for the least of them.' The Elwood Ministerial Association has provided the catalyst for direction and support.
