Abstract
  • Lay leaders in local church congregations need training to help them fulfill their office and carry out their functions. The purpose of this handbook was to develop a handbook that could be used in training lay elders. The primary research method used was 'Creative Studies'. 'Documentary Studies' were used employing 'The Library Survey Method' to develop the material in the handbook. Disciplines used included scripture, early church history, practical theology, and behavioral science. Although the handbook is helpful as a tool for training elders there is a need for additional training material that is more practical.
