Abstract
  • Addressing the issue of worship renewal in Churches of Christ, this dissertation identifies the need for theological understanding of meaning and function to inform the form or shape of Lord's Supper liturgy. A group of ministers participated in a two-session investigation of form and function of the Lord's Supper. They reflected on 1 Cor 10:14-22 and 11:17-34 and various liturgical forms from the Didache to Keith Watkins' model of communion service. The study determined a need for changes in the standard liturgy. The group proposed and evaluated form changes designed to better express the meaning and functions of the Lord's Supper.
