Abstracto

This project explores a Christian response to the needs and behaviors of sexually addicted persons. Sexual addiction is a compulsive disorder. Sexual fantasy introduces chemical changes in the human body, producing a semieuphoric state of lust that afterwards gives way to shame. The project offers testing and counseling--including the rituals of confession, the means of grace, and preaching--for 14 persons enrolled in a recovery program for sexual addiction. Participants experience reduction in shame levels as measured by the Internalized Shame Scale.
