Abstract
  • This project develops an experience in teacher education and support that utilizes story and the Shared Praxis approach to Christian education. The assumption that underlies the project is that if teachers can experience intersection between personal story, personal experience, the biblical story, and faith community experience, to tell one will be to tell the other. As a result, the Bible will become biographical, which makes it easier to communicate. Teaching then will be discernibly different in the church education experience. The project was a six-week teacher education experience for mid-high teachers that utilized denominational materials as the primary resource. The findings supported the primary assumptions: teaching was conducted in a different manner and mid-high pupils experienced a renewed enthusiasm for Bible study.
