Abstract
  • The goal of this doctor of ministry project is to provide commentary and rationale for some of the rites as found in the Great book of needs and the Book of needs which should be a resource for priests of the Orthodox Church to use for both liturgical and educational purposes. Because of the limitations of this project the specific areas covered are limited to the pastoral rites of healing. In addition to the given rites, a survey of clergy, with episcopal guidance, was used to gather information. This effort revealed the need to expand our Orthodox liturgical and pastoral tools for ministry.
