- Abstract
- The purpose of this project was to prepare members of St. John Lutheran Church, Hicksville, Ohio, to serve as leaders in the congregation through a leadership development experience. Participants took part in two three-hour learning sessions focused on congregational governance, strategic planning, and conflict prevention and resolution. They also received a resource manual and experienced structured devotional exercises. Participants reported an enhanced sense of preparedness for service following the learning experience. Preparing and equipping members to serve as leaders within the church can enhance their sense of preparedness and improve their effectiveness as they serve.
