Abstract
  • This dissertation/project addresses the subject of Afrocentrism and relevant topics of theology and ritual through review and analysis of germane literature. Afrocentrism/Afrocentricity is informed by a distinct cultural thesis; an African ethos as the centering existentialism referent. This thesis thus approaches the subject in question through varied points of view; scholars and writers who speak from positions of: affirmation; black nationalistic thought; double consciousness and syncretic consciousness; as well as theologians and biblical scholars who address the relationship of Afrocentrism relative to Christianity. A reflection and analysis by the author concludes.
