- Abstract
- The emerging church and contemporary culture are important issues for mainline congregations to explore. This project focuses on a particular congregation and on the importance of the sacrament of Eucharist in a postmodern context. The report follows the story of a new church development, which serves as the case study for a postmodern community where Eucharist is a mark of the church. It explores characteristics of postmodernity and how the sacrament connects with the contemporary cultural and societal milieu. The case demonstrates an opportunity for the Church to reclaim its theology of Word and Sacrament in order to remain faithful, effective, and relevant.
