  • This ministry research project develops, implements, and evaluates a methodology for encouraging and motivating the members of the First Baptist Church of Douglas, Georgia to practice daily Bible reading. The biblical and theological basis for regular Bible reading is established. The psychology of habit and the application of motivational techniques provides a model for the promotion of behavioral change. A specific year-long program of stimuli is designed to motivate the congregation of First Baptist Church to establish and maintain a daily habit of Bible reading. The program was successful in increasing Bible reading frequency by 52 percent.
