Abstract
  • The author researched the situation of drug addiction in the Church and community, as a real crisis, which should be assisted through trained lay leaders to offer pastoral care of families, trapped in addiction system. The Church is presented as an extended family and healing community that should show the solidarity of the Lord that allows that abusive and oppressive patterns can be shown to be healed. The contextual deterioration expressed by inadequate boundaries, out of control family system should be broken and overcome through interventions that propitiate change. The experience of the trained lay leaders was effective and spiritually rewarding.
