Abstract
  • A diagnostic protocol is developed and utilized in field research providing a fuller clinical picture of MDD which includes two proposed additional dimensions beyond the medical and psychological, the psychospiritual dimensions of (1) meaning, and (2) being itself. By using this new diagnostic protocol, operationalizing Tillich's concept of the threat of non-being and Frankl's concept of meaning developed in his Logotherapy, three hypotheses are supported: (1) that the being dimension of MDD exist; (2) that it is distinct from the meaning dimension, and (3) that the being dimension can be assessed utilizing a theologically-based questionnaire.
