  • This project posits that much public prayer offered in the context of worship is poorly prepared and lethargically spoken. Factors that contribute to the absence of well-crafted, careful public prayers are examined through interviews with worship leaders representing a variety of Christian traditions. Also considered are three specific recommendations that could inspire the pastoral imagination to reclaim the sacred language and practice of public prayer within Christ's gathered community. Excavated from the research is a call for worship leaders to believe in prayer, to behold prayer, and to bother with prayer such that the prayer life of God's people might be restored.
