  • This project measures the attitudinal change in five seminarians in their style of ministry toward patients through an introductory course in hospital ministry by means of pre- and post-testing, including questionnaires, interviews, role playing and evaluations. The context of the project was a three week clinical course in hospital ministry based on the pastoral counseling theories of Adams, Hiltner, and Clinebell and Carl Rogers' ideas. The results from the project revealed a bell-shaped pattern of change. Two of the five students became more open and accepting, one became more conservative and rigid and two showed no apparent change in style of ministry.
