Abstract
  • The central concern of the dissertation is a model for Pentecostal Christian formation. The dissertation addresses a crucial question: How can the Pentecostal faith be perpetuated in the most effective way? The proposed model for Pentecostal Christian formation is grounded in the community of faith paradigm espoused by John Westerhoff. It utilizes the spiritual and liminal power of the Pentecostal worship service for transformation and formation. It exploits committed and caring relationships in a covenant community. The model for Pentecostal Christian formation is supported by a major discussion of how Pentecostals know God (epistemology). It is also supported by a significant discussion of the theological ethos of Pentecostalism.
