Abstract
  • As a pastor of a small church in a stable-center yet growing community, the preacher tells of her process to identify, grow, deepen, and broaden the resources of the congregation to empower the members to live as a people of God. The first woman pastor in a century-old German church, the preacher first tried to empower the congregation by preaching for individual autonomy. Then the preacher struggled through scriptural discipline and embodiment of the Word to gain authenticity as preacher. This pro-active thesis blends congregational study and self-reflection as integral components for meaningful empowerment.
