Abstract
  • This project researches the faith development of adults in their middle years (forty to sixty) in the context of six American Baptist churches in the Boston area It focuses on the strengths and weaknesses of the ministry to this age group. The research is informed by a critical review of adult development theories and by theological images appropriate to middle adulthood. The method includes a written questionnaire. The author concludes that relationships have value as a primary component of faith development and that education is needed to challenge conformist tendencies in many churches.
