Abstract
  • The church is the Body of Christ. Each individual member belongs to Christ and is gifted by the Spirit for the common good. The primary impediment is excessive individualism, causing the church to become a voluntary association. A vision of the church which is more biblical and more faithful to the Baptist tradition is necessary to change that which prevents the members of Christ's body from sharing power. This thesis presents an initial process from sharing power. This thesis presents an initial process for transforming a Baptist congregation by beginning an envisioning process, empowering the decision-making mechanisms to become more public, and modeling patterns of partnering as staff.
