Abstract
  • In response to worrisome experiences with college students who are veterans of the Iraq War, and in conversation with the ground-breaking research of West Virginia University psychology professor Joseph Scotti on the mental health needs of those veterans and their predisposition for turning to clergy rather than mental health professionals, the author searches for tools that might help campus ministers and other clerical first-line responders in dealing with the religious needs of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans. An original Bible study curriculum using scriptures from the Babylonian Exile of ancient Israel is one promising possibility.
