Abstract
  • The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between pastoral leadership style and church growth in Nazarene churches. This involved describing essential leadership practices and specific leadership style(s) indicative of pastors leading Nazarene churches to experience growth. This study was a descriptive, correlational study utilizing a researcher designed questionnaire. The research disclosed that a definiite and unique relationship exists between pastoral leadership style and dynamic growth in Nazarene churches. The findings of the study confirmed that 'coaching' and 'catalyst' leadership styles are more apt to lead Nazarene churches to experience growth. In addition, there are factors other than leadership (e.g. age of pastor, location of church, socio-economic composition of congregation, etc.) associated with observed church growth.
