- Abstract
- The project hypothesizes that a sermon series from Mark's gospel developed through a long-term preparation program would effect increased discipleship among the congregation. The sermon preparation process develops a synthetic outline, propositions (exegetical, theological and homiletical) for sermon portions and message outlines. The communication strategy designs sermons to persuasively preach elements of discipleship. The spiritual journey evaluation measures congregational change in discipleship attitudes and actions. The post-test assesses relative effects of other variables. The congregation demonstrated increased discipleship, though the difference was not statistically significant. The preparation model is considered valuable and recommendations for ministry and studies are stated.
