Abstrakt

The purpose of this project was to develop a membership assimilation strategy for attenders of Jericho Baptist Church, Guntown, Mississippi (JBC). A strategy model with four project goals guided the development process. The first project goal was to examine critical issues in the membership assimilation process. An internal audit and a survey of JBC attenders identified twelve critical issues in the membership assimilation process. The second project goal explored the field of church membership assimilation in order to determine best practices. By assembling an annotated bibliography and assessing select church assimilation models, I determined best practices for membership assimilation. The third project goal developed a membership assimilation strategy for attenders of JBC. A strategy team utilized the identified critical issues and best practices to develop the membership assimilation strategy. The strategy established a simple path that moves attenders into meaningful, active membership. On December 14, 2025, I completed the fourth goal by presenting the strategy to JBC members. Following the presentation, JBC members voted to approve the membership assimilation strategy.
