Abstract
  • This work is a study focused on spiritual direction as a form of spiritual renewal within the local parish. Historically, spiritual direction has focused on an intimate one-on-one relationship between the director and directee. The central problem for clergy engaged in pastoral ministry is that this one-on-one, personal ministry can be so time consuming as to become impractical. A question this thesis poses is whether or not the unique, personal bond of spiritual direction can be manifest within the context of a small group.
