Abstract
  • This project matched a computer database of existing community services with identified community needs in order to expose unmet needs. Church auxiliaries of Hemingway Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Church of District Heights, Maryland, then reviewed the needs based on the mission and interest of the auxiliaries. After reviewing this data, a Christ-like response to community advocacy issues and needs, including housing and employment, was established. This project implemented new faith-based initiatives, a new church management structure, and instruction for key individuals and auxiliary groups. The newly implemented programs were analyzed through qualitative case study methods and quantitative surveys.
