Abstract
  • The implementation of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults has resulted in a wide array of approaches to the Rite and to initiation practices in general. The Rite envisions, during the Period of the Catechumenate, a kind of apprenticeship for catechumens and candidates, focusing on instruction, prayer, community and formation in apostolic activity. This thesis project focuses on three parishes with three very different approaches to the Period of the Catechumenate. A relationship between the vision of the church mediated by the different approaches is compared to the eventual levels of involvement and participation in parish life.
