Abstract
  • This action research project was implemented at Macedonia Baptist Church in Dayton, Ohio. The study addressed the problem of transforming conservative attitudes about work and leisure within the congregation. Project implementation occurred in two phases, a congregational survey and a Bible-based leisure counseling group. Quantitative and qualitative data collected were analyzed using SPSS 13.0. Eight hypotheses were tested, four were affirmed and four rejected. Implementation of the model led to a hightened understanding of beliefs about work and leisure within the congregation and behavioral actions by counselees led to measureable commitments to live more balanced lives.
