- Abstract
- The project was designed to discover the emotional ramifications of the process whereby formerly Episcopalian priests may be ordained as Catholic priests. The study uses loss theory, systems theory, and cognitive theory to elucidate the data obtained from surveys of the priests, their wives, and their new co-workers. The results indicate a need for greater relatedness to the pain and loss experienced, supportive counseling and spiritual direction for those in transition, and increased explanation of the process to the congregations involved.
