Abstract
  • This project proposes to identify and address needs of African American military veterans at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Salem, Virginia, through surveys, questionnaires, personal contacts, and lectures to staff and veterans. The research discloses special needs of minority veterans for spiritual, emotional, and cultural support for individual and collective self-esteem. These needs can be met by sympathetic overtures that address the spiritual and cultural worldview of minority veterans.
