Abstract
  • Twelve college students formed a 'journey group in spiritual guidance' that met for one semester. The participants engaged in three foci designed to develop their spirituality: personal spiritual disciplines, individual spiritual direction with the project director, and a weekly meeting that included group spiritual direction. The weekly meetings also introduced the students to alternative spiritual exercises which the project director encouraged the participants to practice. The result of the project was that the participants reported an increased awareness of and attentiveness to God in their daily life, support for their spiritual growth, and an affirmation of their spiritual identity.
