Abstract
  • This project addresses the struggles that some women have with self-esteem from theological, psychological and pastoral care perspectives. Incorporating some components of wilderness therapy into a pastoral care setting should help to offer a more integrated and wholistic model of pastoral care and counseling. The project describes a feminist understanding of sin, the sin of hiding or self-negation, and offers some suggestions about how wilderness adventure therapy might be incorporated into a more wholistic model of pastoral care and counseling. Two women who had experienced wilderness therapy were interviewed to provide illustrative material.
