- This paper is an attempt to provide a theological dimension to Erik Erikson's last stage of life, the crisis of ego integrity versus despair, with a 'transformed Bible study' (Wink, 1980, p. 13) for older adults. In this crisis an answer is demanded to the question, 'Was my life worthwhile?' The following two focus points are crucial to a positive response to the above question. First, the approach used by Thomas Groome referred to as 'story-telling' and 'creative imagination' will be explored with George Stroup's use of biblical narratives for helping older adults in making meaning in their lives. A new look at Christian education is necessary in order for an older adult to connect a review of one's life and the biblical narratives for making meaning in 'elderescence.'
