Abstract
  • This project was designed to explore the historical roots and contemporary expressions of pastoral leadership in the context of the black church. The author interviewed local black clergy and surveyed both the black clergy and laity in the city of Columbus, Ohio. This document illustrates the pastoral leadership styles prevalent in the black church, reveals the dominant style of pastoral leadership and articulates a theology of leadership extant and operative in the black church given the black religious experience in America.
