  • This project focuses on what happens to a congregation's perception of themselves if the Lord's table is moved from the chancel to the center of the worshipping community. With the community seated around the table in a Presbyterian (USA) church, the congregation was studied for six-months using linked quantitative and qualitative methods of data collection. Architectural, historical and theological sources from the Reformed tradition inform the study. Over the time period the congregation began to see themselves differently, moving from individuals worshipping in a congregation to a place where they could see that their community, as it gathers, is Christ.
