Abstract
  • Narrative theology proposes the efficacy of figural preaching for the church. This descriptive case study follows the journey of a preacher and congregation as they move to figural preaching over six years. A representative sampling of sermons is studies in order to trace this movement. A representative sampling of the congregation is interviewed in order to portray its response to this change and to discover connections between figural preaching and Christian practices. Noticeable change in the practice of preaching is discerned and described. The relationship between the practice of figural preaching and the lived practices of the congregation is explored.
