Abstract
  • This project sought to improve marital health among church-member couples. Ten couples participated in a process of conceptual education, practical training, and guided application of biblical concepts targeting enhanced spiritual discipline practices and improved couple understanding skills. Couples listened to five sermons, attended two training workshops, and completed an eight-week home practicum. Participants were to practice two spiritual disciplines twice each week for eight weeks and engage in two communication events (where they pursued understanding their spouse) each week for six weeks. Despite low practicum compliance, eight of ten participant couples met or exceeded the criteria for improved marital health.
