Abstract
  • The thesis explores the relationship between pre-ordination preparation experience of ruling elders and their post-ordination performance. The data was collected from sixty randomly selected ruling elders who answered the questionnaire. It was discovered that there is a higher correlation between specific academic training and good performance than between life experiences and good performances. One must not conclude that good academic training will cause outstanding elder performance. There may be a third factor influencing both. A supplement to the study itself provides a theological framework for the raw data. The paper further gives a specific plan for developing and using ruling elders in the local congregation.
