- The focus of this doctoral project is to examine the interrelationship between the formation of distorted self and God images as influenced by trauma and the presence of evil alter identities. This interrelationship is illustrated by the dissociative disorder core metaphor (DDCM) model developed in this doctoral thesis. This theo-psychological model combines insights from object relations theory, formation of God images, self psychology, cognitive science, faith development, and metaphorical theology. Clinical materials presented in this thesis are not case studies but are illustrative clinical examples which demonstrate the principles of the DDCM model from a psychotherapy perspective.
