Abstract
  • The central issue of this thesis is how the seven million Muslims living in the United States can be reached by a small number of cross-cultural workers working together with local churches. A historical analysis of Christian approaches attempted during the past thirteen centuries have failed to adequately equip Christians to become more effective witnesses with Muslims. This research attempts to identify principles of witness with Muslims and some possible starting points for developing a Christian theology addressed to the Muslim's frame of understanding. It also seeks to identify the essential tasks and qualities of an effective Christian witness with Muslims which the local church can use to reach out to the Muslim community and incorporate these into a model for training lay Christians.
