Abstract
  • This project proposes that current retrenchment of minority rights in the US demands more aggressive political advocacy from black churches. The project analyzes biblical texts, finding full warrant for Christian political action, and examines the US Constitution and models of political advocacy among religious and nonreligious groups in order to recommend political strategies for black churches. Social class can continue to provide a stimulus for political advocacy by religious organizations, as it has in the past.
