- Abstract
- The purpose of this project will be to train parents of adolescents to be more effective in their role with their teenage children. The changes that take place during the adolescent years affect not only the adolescent but the parents as well. This project will equip parents to face the often turbulent adolescent years with confidence. The project will be accomplished by enlisting parents to meet once a week over a period of ten weeks for one hour each time. Parents will demonstrate their understanding of some of the issues that confront adolescents and parents during the adolescent years. This will be accomplished by identifying areas of need in their own family, understanding the roles and responsibilities of training adolescents, discovering ways of improving the parent/adolescent relationship, and by evaluating parental influence in the home. The adolescents of the parents in the control group will also be involved in a separate three week session. A four-week, four-sermon series will support the issues addressed in the project.
