Abstract
  • This project integrates the theological-ethical and educational aspects of the issues surrounding war, nuclear weapons and peace as background for those who plan to serve as military chaplains. It examines the various Christian attitudes toward war (crusades, pacifism, just-war, and nuclear pacifism). The report outlines historical, biblical, and theological bases for the various Christian responses. Methodology includes research, teaching five fifty-minute seminary classes, written evaluations by students and an official observer, and critical reflective action. The project shows positive results, raises interesting questions, and highlights some moral ethical implications for future study and Christian action. Peacemaking became an important aspect of the outworking process.
